    Vice President / Operations

Steve somehow made a career in the printing industry, spending over 39 years absorbing all of the details and living through many changes involving ink on paper. He originally became interested in all things print-related by observing, and then learning to use the Chandler & Price letterpress his older brother purchased and installed in the family workshop in Perrysburg. Couple that with tearing down an old Linotype and pouring lead “pigs” and you get the idea that he must have shook hands with Gutenberg.

He has experience in all phases of print, and with many different companies, from his time spent in pre-press and press production at such places as The Wall Street Journal, along with various in-plant and medium-size shops. Additionally, there have also been decades spent in production management, estimating, purchasing, scheduling/planning and customer service at some of the largest printing companies in Ohio and beyond. Just don’t ask him to work in bindery – he somehow never took to that area!

Steve currently resides in Pemberville, Ohio with his wife, Susan. They have two children, Andy, who is a graphic designer for the largest hot-air balloon manufacturer in the world, and Kellie, who is a doctoral student in Neuroscience at The University of Minnesota. Oh, speaking of balloons, Steve also happens to be a commercially-rated hot-air balloon pilot and flight instructor and operated (with his wife) a balloon ride business for over twenty years. Pastimes also include gardening, woodworking and following BGSU Hockey (go Falcons!).

Name one thing not many people know about you.

Monkeys! Some people collect action figures, sports memorabilia, etc. I collect monkeys, but not just any monkeys. My collection of monkeys is small because they have to be unique and not like any others in the collection.

Would you rather skydive or swim with sharks?

Why can’t I do both? How about skydiving into the ocean and then swimming with the sharks? That would be awesome.

What is one food you cannot stand or even think about eating?

I would have to say liver. It’s brown and slimy and looks completely disgusting! When I was a kid, my mom would make it sometimes and it would stink up the whole house. Just the smell of it makes we want to hurl. Ewww!

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Why?

My older sisters went to school to be nurses and everyone assumed I would follow their lead. When I realized what was involved, I decided that career was not for me. I figured office work would be a good fit and got a job at a local printing company through a work program offered by my high school.
